MCLinc Support to Depleted Uranium Hexafluoride Conversion |

MCLinc offers an experienced technical staff along with a unique and powerful collection of materials characterization and chemical analysis equipment. Advanced equipment includes electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, x-ray fluorescence, infrared spectroscopy, gas chromatography, ICP for metals analysis, liquid scintillation and gas-proportional counters for radiochemical analyses, ion chromatography, well-equipped sample preparation and wet chemistry analysis laboratories, and equipment for explosivity testing. This fusion of instrumental, laboratory and personal resources provides a dedicated technical services group capable of providing consultation services, as well as a wide range of laboratory-to-bench-to-pilot scale studies in support of technology development, test and evaluation, and forensic investigations. MCLinc experience that directly relates to the depleted uranium hexafluoride conversion project includes: Ø MCLinc is licensed and permitted to perform the work. Ø MCLinc is a small business currently providing technical support services as a commercial entity. Ø MCLinc’s core staff and affiliates have over 300 man-years experience providing technical development and operations support for the DOE gaseous diffusion uranium enrichment enterprise. Ø MCLinc’s laboratory facility, located at ETTP (the former K-25 Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Oak Ridge) is equipped to perform chemical process and treatability studies and characterization analysis to support this effort. Ø MCLinc experience since commercialization includes support to GDP operations at Paducah and Portsmouth, support to the GDP demolition project in Oak Ridge, and support to the UF6 cylinder storage project in Oak Ridge. In summary, MCLinc has the appropriate facility, necessary licenses and permits, and experienced staff required to provide laboratory-scale process development and monitoring, investigation of process upsets, and characterization of uranium compounds.
